The Haridwar- Roorkee Development Authority on Tuesday announced that it will undertake the project of beautification and renovation of the Triveni Ghat, Rishikesh at the cost of 2.5 crore rupees. The main highlights of this project are : the main entrance gate to be designed as per Uttarakhand’s culture, special changing rooms for women, shoes stand and installation of underground modern solar lights.
Premchand Aggarwal, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly laid the foundation of this scheme on the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. In the program organized on Tuesday at Triveni Ghat, Premchand Aggarwal said that more plans will be approved for Rishikesh during Haridwar Mahakumbh. For the cleanliness program in the city, the sewer line is being laid across the entire region with the help of Germany. Drinking water lines will also be repaired. The Speaker also suggested that the area can be made more attractive by putting statues related to religious leaders and yoga demonstrations on main Chowks and lanes. An emphasis was also laid on creating permanent helipads in Rishikesh.The Speaker said that the amount to be received for the development during the Mahakumbh should be spent proportionately in Rishikesh, Tapovan, Muni ki Reti and other regions of the city.
